THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE (CDA)

The CDA is a national credential which is administered by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition in Washington, DC and designed to enhance the quality of child care. The CDA Credential is awarded to individuals who have completed the national CDA requirements. These individuals have proven their competence in working with young children and their families through a process of on-the-job performance evaluations, review by other early childhood professionals, and successful completion of an assessment by the National Council for Early Childhood Recognition.

The Course

Family Strength Associates has designed this non-credit course with a hands-on approach to learning with group activities as well as individualized instruction. All instruction is practical and immediately applicable to the classroom environment.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Be able to speak, write and read well enough to complete the responsibilities of a CDA  candidate
• Able to work in a state-approved child care program
• Have at least 480 hours of experience working in a child care group setting within the past 5   years

Dates/Times /Locations

Most courses are for 120 hours.
The course can be designed to meet on dates & times specific to the needs of the Host Site. (download a Host Site Application)
Courses begin throughout the year at convenient locations across the State of New Jersey and surrounding areas.

Cost/Tuition

• Onsite discounts are available for the Host Site
• Cost includes text books, formal observations, and resources
• Candidate will receive 120 clock-hours & 12 CEU’s for the course

Renewal

Family Strength Associates has designed a 45-hour course to assist providers with a CDA meet the requirements for Renewal and/or the Second Setting. The course consists of teleconferencing and webinars from the comfort of your home during convenient times.
